An early rise is required as a full day of wine is uncorked, and you are chauffeured from Hotel Relais de Margaux to Château Preuillac. Set in 30 hectares of gravel hilltops and run in the purest Médoc traditions, Preuillac is a Médoc Cru Bourgeois and boasts a unique wine school, to which enthusiasts and professionals from all over the world come to improve their knowledge of wine and the art of tasting. Through The Vintage Golf Company’s exclusive relationship with Château Preuillac we are able to offer you the opportunity to enjoy their expertise and knowledge on an exciting one day introductory wine experience: ‘The Awakening of the Senses’.

Having been welcomed by the Preuillac team in the Château’s winter garden, you will spend the first part of the morning in the company of a top wine specialist, receiving an introduction to the mechanisms and vocabulary of tasting and the identification of flavours. After a short break you will have the opportunity to taste a number of prestigious appellations from around Bordeaux, including the highly regarded wines of the Preuillac estate itself. A long lunch follows; a chance to enjoy the classic French recipes of Marguerite Mau, as you continue to sample and discuss a sequence of wines especially chosen to compliment the cuisine. After lunch you will be given a personal guided tour of the beautiful, traditional Château Preuillac and its picturesque surroundings, followed by another tasting session.

The final part of the experience is a visit to one of the nearby Grand Cru Classé Châteaux. Accompanied by a member of the Preuillac team, you will spend the late afternoon exploring one of the world’s truly great wine estates. The Grand Cru Classé represent the pinnacle of wine making, and lie at the very heart of Bordeaux’s unparalleled tradition.As the sun sets over Château Preuillac we will chauffeur you back to Relais de Margaux for a relaxed evening meal; a little closer, we hope, to understanding the mysteries and exquisite delights of the Médoc soils.
